Monday, March 12th
Hello all, hope you had a great weekend… Just a quick update here… Upper level energy passing northwest of the region today will continue to give us scattered shower chances through midday. Most of the showers should be diminshing over our region as drier ait works its way into the mid/upper levels of the atmosphere.
Looking ahead a quiet 1 to 2 weeks on the way. The large scale pattern will feature troughing across the eastern Pacific/western USA and ridging across the eastern half of the nation. Here’s the 8 to 10 day from both rthe ECMWF and GFS…
Bottom line, this pattern will keep temperatures WELL above average the next 1 to 2 weeks and with precipitation below average during that same time period. Speaking of precip… the next chance for a few showers and storms will come later Wednesday night into Thursday as a weak disturbance slides through the region. This activity should be widely scattered however as any focusing mechanisms will be weak to nonexistent and a the afore mentioned upper energy also looks to be quite weak.
Beyond Thursday, upper heights build allowing for warming to take place in the mid/upper atmosphere which should effectively “cap” off or prevent any storms from developing. In other words… it looks really pleasant !
Have a great Monday
