Thursday Morning Update

Hey, check out this temperature gradient across KY as of 10am…

Our forecast for today is based on the fact that the warm front reaches the metro area.  We’ll see !! Actually it may make it into SE Jefferson countyand into northern Shelby county and that may be about it  – wnich means places like Fern Creek, Fisherville, Simpsonville reach the upper 50s to near 60 but the airport (SDF) stays near 50…  Ahh the fun of forecasting in the Ohio Valley !  Another surge of rain to make it in here as the day wears on. Additonal rain amounts of .50 to .75 possible around the metro, but 1 to 2 inches across our southern regions (near and south of the parkways).  A flood watch is in effect  but we’re not expecting any major / widespread flood issues in the Louisville metro with this system.

Drier air returns later tonight shutting off the rain and bringing a quiet day for tomorrow. For the weekend, no major systems but a couple of fast moving disturbances riding the polar jet will dive down across the Ohio Valley and bring with them a couple surges of colder air.  As the fronts/disturbances pass through, patchy light rain/snow showers will be possibile Saturday, and some flurries on Sunday.

Have a great day all,
